Beard-A-Thon

April means one thing around here: Playoff hockey!

And while the Pens are on the ice beating the living crap out of the Flyers, I'll be supporting the team the best way I know how... With my ever-spectacular playoff beard. Except this year, we're gonna add a twist:

My beard... Or lack of one... is for charity.

I've created a profile on the Penguins' Beard-A-Thon site, where I will be posting pictures of my playoff beard before every game. You can track my progress, as well as pledge my beard, all from that site. All donations are going towards The Mario Lemieux Foundation, which funds cancer research and various other projects. So as the resident expert in all things charitable and voluneer-y, may I just say that the Lemieux Foundaiton is the best charity EVER! They donate a crap ton of money to the Children's Institute for severely disabled children/premature babies, to cancer research at Children's Hospital, and assorted other cancer projects at UPMC Shadyside (UPMC's cancer center, fyi), all of which are things that probably wouldn't otherwise get any money at all and actually deserve a little extra attention. So everybody should give Justin a couple bucks, it'll make way more of a difference than all that pink ribbon crap you buy in October.
